The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recently released guidance on risk management for organizations developing or using AI systems. The guidance, Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework 1.0, is aimed at helping organizations understand and manage the risks posed by AI, including issues such as bias, privacy, security, and accountability.

American Banker examines the impact of AI in the financial sector, based on NIST's voluntary framework for AI risk management.

In How Banks Should Deal with AI’s Risks According to NIST, ThoughtLinks' CEO Sumeet Chabria commends NIST for releasing the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management framework and offers his perspectives on it.

"Any organization starting to just use AI will get a lot of value using this as a starting point and reference," Chabria said. "Mature organizations can get value using it as a reference and comparing it to their current frameworks. Fintechs using AI should review this seriously.”
